If you are tired of the regular game of chess or checkers, try out Khet. With an unusual name like that the game is pretty unusual too. Set in the ancient land of Egypt, each player has his own Pharaoh to protect from the opponents laser beam. With skilful manipulation of mirrors and laser, this two-player game is pretty engrossing. Players take turn to move their pieces that have two, one or no mirrors. The four pieces in each team are: the pharaoh, obelisk, pyramid and djed column. You can move them a space forward, left, right, back or diagonal. Alternatively you could just turn the direction of the piece by a quarter turn to guide the laser to its destination: The Pharaoh! A refreshing change from the usual TV and PC games, here is a game where you actually have to use your gray cells to save yourself. Though this game is suitable for children above the age of nine. It is best to remember that you need to be careful to not point the laser into any ones eyes as it could cause damage to them.
The Khet Laser Board Game costs $63 or £34.95.
